Flat Dried Flowers

Drying flat is a good method to dry plant materials as it retains the natural shape on the stem and retain the colour of the dried flowers. But the plant materials need to be dry in a dry cool room with circulating air or in a heat room.

Firstly pick the plant materials of your own choice and make sure that are free from water. Remove the lower leaves from the stem also cut away any damaged material to leave the stems bare. Especially the leaves hold a lot of moisture and are likely to rot before they are dry. The flowers can be dry with short stem.

Then place them in a dry cool room with circulating air to dry or in the heat room. During the wet weather it would be wise to place it in the heat room. The plant materials will dry faster in the heat room depending on the types and sizes. Normally, it takes more than a week to dry.  Once ready the natural shape stem will attach nicely to the dried flower.
